Placida Gallegos

I am a Latina elder living in the mountains of my native New Mexico surrounded by the wisdom of nature and the bones of my ancestors from many generations past (when these lands were part of Mexico before the conquest).

LatinX people are multicultural and multiracial mestizos who defy common racial categories in the US by embodying aspects of our indigenous ancestors, our Spanish conquerors and our African roots as well. Our history represents the blending that is foreshadowing drastic demographic shifts in the US now as people of mixed backgrounds and races are becoming one of the fastest growing groups in our nation.

My passion personally and professionally is being a healing force for confronting and repairing the legacies of our polarized past. In collective configurations, co-reating robust We-spaces for dialogue, I help build containers where we can engage each other in deeper conversations and take committed action to address historical harm with fierce love.
